N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man who was found burned to death in a car on May 27th in Streeter, ND has been identified.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser reports that 67 year-old Stanley Schauer of Streeter was found by deputies during the early morning hours after it was reported that there was a car that burned in front of a home.

Sheriff Kaiser says an autopsy was completed after finding a body inside the vehicle on 50th Avenue Southeast roughly 6 miles northwest of Streeter. It was determined that Schauer died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Nothing suspicious was found, but the department is unsure how the car started on fire.

The investigation also found that Schauer had been drinking the night before, but it isn’t known if he was intoxicated at the time of the fire. The Sheriff’s Office investigation into this incident is closed.
