CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Valley City Post 60 took on Wahpeton Post 20 Friday night at home. Post 20 came out on the winning end of a closely contested contest by score of 6-4.

 Things didn’t start of good for VC after giving up 2 unearned runs with 2 outs in the 1st. The score remained 2-0 when VC threatened in the bottom of the 2nd. They would load the bases with no outs but would fail to get a run in. Finally in the bottom of the 3rd Post 60 got on the board with a single from Stephan Brooks to score Justin Manson with 2 outs.

 Wahpeton Post 20 would score a run in the 4th, 2 in the 5th and another in the 6th to extend their lead to 6-1. Post 60 scored in the bottom of the 6th by a Drew Oberlander single, followed up by a single by Cole McGough to score their second run of the inning.  Nate Rodriguez would add a solo home run in the bottom of 7th but that would be all the scoring as Wahpeton would be ahead at the end of game 6-4.

 Rylee Bjork got the start for VC.  Bjork went 5 innings giving up 5 runs(1 earned) on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6.

 At the plate VC would collect 11 hits in the game.  Dalton Ondracek lead the way with 3 hits while Brooks picked up 2 and drove in 1 run.  8 of VC’s 9 batters picked up a hit.

 With the loss Post 60 record is 0-3 (0-2 Region),  Next action for VC is Wednesday night at West Fargo 5:30.
