N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A multiple vehicle crash happened 10 miles east of Valley City near MM 302 about 10:30pm June 9th.

The Highway Patrol said 18 year-old Alexis Rath of Wimbeldon was traveling westbound on I-94 when she lost control of her vehicle as it began to hydroplane. Her vehicle crossed through the median and came to rest in the eastbound lane of I-94.

An eastbound semi, driven by 32 year-old Mazen Beiruti of Martensville SK struck Rath’s vehicle and left the roadway crossing the median. Beiruti’s semi then struck the trailer of a westbound semi driven by 62 year-old Tony Badrawi of Dickinson.

Beiruti’s semi blocked the westbound lane of I-94. Badrawi’s semi overturned and came to rest in the north ditch of I-94. His trailer was damaged and began to leak liquid oxygen.

Beiruti was extracted from his vehicle and transported to a Fargo Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Badrawi was transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City for minor injuries. Alexis Rath was not injured in the crash.

Both westbound lanes of I-94 were closed for about 40 minutes as emergency crews worked to remove Beirtui from his semi.

This crash is under investigation with the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Barnes County Sheriff’s deputies, The Valley City Rural Fire District, Tower City Fire Department, Barnes County Ambulance, Casselton Ambulance and Buffalo First Responders all assisted on scene.
