N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Some individuals spent a windy, hot Friday afternoon walking the track around Taylor Stadium for the Stutsman County Relay for Life.

Relay for Life is an event that raises money for the American Cancer Society, which is then used to raise awareness and fight cancer. Chelsey Francis, Event Lead for Stutsman County Relay for Life, says the 21st Annual Event had raised over $50,000.

Francis pointed out that the track was lined up with over 1,500 luminaries, all commemorating those who have lost their lives to cancer and those who have survived. Relays are held all across the U.S., having raised a total of over $5 billion since the first ever event.

Survivor Don Caine was the speaker for the evening.

Caine stated that it was important to spread the information because Ccancer touches everyone’s life in one way or another.

Several fundraisers were held leading up to the event. The 12-hour event invited all ages and individuals to participate.
