N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Drought and wind storms are two of farmer’s biggest issues when it comes to summertime.

Paul Dubourt, District Conservationist for Foster County, says current conditions have not been favorable with local farmers in the area. He says the wind storms that occurred over Memorial Day weekend was a prime example of what wind can do to the soil.

Dubourt says that although state farmers are doing as much as they can, they need to start giving their soil more value.

Although he says coverage crops are a great way to keep the soil healthy, Dubourt points out that there are tons of ways farmers can also help their soil and future crops.

Dubourt says he and his agency were founded in order to help farmers, providing another set of eyes and another opinion. Dubourt says farmers and interested individuals can contact him at his local offices by calling 701-251-2551.
