N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Minot exploded with 7 runs in the 6th inning to defeat The Hi-Liners 10-2 in the 5th place game of The Class A State Softball Tournament. Valley City finishes with a record of 13-16 and placed 6th for the 3rd time in program history. 

After falling behind 3-1 The Hi-Liners pulled within a run when Hailey Schaefer came home on an error in the 4th. Minot began the 6th with a single and double and strung together 5 consecutive hits topped off by a grand slam by Riley Iremen.

Lexi  Ondracek went 2 for 3 and Emily Murray had an RBI. The Majettes’ Emily Melom had 3 hits. Marisa Andrysiak, who came in for injured Jenna Andrysiak in the 3rd, was the winning pitcher. Hi-Liner starter Becca Thompson was tagged with the loss. Schaefer tossed 2 innings of relief and Taryn Dieterle made her post season debut with 2/3 of an inning of work. 

The game was the final for seniors Maren Horner, Jayda Haugen and Emily Murray.
