N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A North Dakota State Hospital escapee was apprehended early Friday morning near Fargo.

Highway patrol Captain Bryan Niewind reports that Desiree McKay was taken into custody by the Fargo Police Department at the Sanford ER at around 2:20 AM June 2nd. She was transported to the Cass County jail and is currently being held in their custody, pending transfer back to to the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

“The NDHP would like to thank the Jamestown Police Department and the Fargo Police Department in their help in investigating the escape, searching for Ms. McKay and eventually locating her in Fargo,” Captain Niewind stated.

McKay had escaped from a North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation funded addiction treatment unit Thursday evening. She escaped from a fenced outdoor enclosure at the treatment facility.

No word on if the stolen vehicle was found along with McKay.
