N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On June 18th, the Fort Seward Wagon Train will be taking off on its 48th journey.

First started by Mary Young in 1969, the Fort Seward Wagon Train has become an area draw for the past 47 years. Rodney Kluvers has been participating in the train since 1974.

Kluvers says the wagon train keeps him coming back due to several different reasons. He says it’s almost a second family to him.

Kluvers pointed out that the wagon train tries to maintain an authentic feel to give the participants the best experience of what life was like on the frontier in the 1800’s.

The trail this year has been designed to lead the team to Kulm to help them commemorate their 125 years as a community. The voyage will take the team of horse-covered wagons roughly 70 miles in one week.

Adam Olson, Board President of the wagon train, says this year they’ll have a couple coming all the way from Sweden to join the wagon train.
