N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents of Stutsman County will be walking to honor those who have fought and won the battle against cancer, and honoring those who lost their lives to the disease.

On June 9th, the Stutsman County Relay for Life will commence at the University of Jamestown Taylor Stadium. Josh Knutson is a committee member for the event.

The 12-hour event will feature food, song and celebration while raising money for the American Cancer Society (ACS). According to the ACS, the event is held in more than 5,200 communities and 27 different countries. Since the first relay, over $5 billion dollars have been raised.

Knutson says that they are currently selling luminaries for those interested.

The group has held numerous fundraisers leading up to the event including bake sales and their 2nd Annual Color Run, which had almost 200 people participate. Knutson pointed out that the Relay for Life was not possible without the contributions and participation from residents of Stutsman County.

The event will be held June 9th from Noon until Midnight at Taylor Stadium. The event is free. For more information or to purchase a luminary, contact Judy Hagar at 701-320-8458 or visit the Stutsman County Relay for Life Facebook page.
