N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The storied history of the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse will become available for residents and tourists when it opens its doors to the public May 27th.
The courthouse, which is older than the state of North Dakota, is a State Historical Society landmark. Barb Lang is a committee member of the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse Committee.
Lang reports that efforts have continued since 1990 to prepare the courthouse’s interior and exterior renovations. Lang says the landmark will be another draw for the area.
Lang says the goal is get over 6,000 visitors this year. She says this will hopefully bring in more grant money to the site to help them with funding for future interior work.
Admission will be free to the courthouse. The hours over the summer will be 10 AM to 5 PM Wednesday through Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. For more information, visit history.nd.gov or call 701-328-2666.
