N.D. (NewsDakota.com)——Drew Page pitched 7 solid innings to help Carrington move on to the final day of the Region 3 baseball tournament with a 7-2 victory over Kidder County. Page struck out 6 batters, allowed just 3 hits, and 2 earned runs for the victory. The Cardinals scored 3 runs in the first inning, 2 in the second, and 2 morein the third. Lucas Geiszler and Page both drove in 2 runs without a base hit. Geiszler had an RBI fielders choice in the first inning and a bases loaded walk in the second inning and Page had a sacrifice fly in the first inning and RBI groundout in the second. Jayden Rosenau went 2-2 with 2 doubles, scored 2 runs, and was hit by pitch twice. Braxton Hewitt went 2-3, scored 2 runs, and added an RBI bases loaded walk. Kyle Leapaldt went 2-2 with 2 walks and an RBI. Seth Nelson, Garrett Bickett, and Payton Smith all collected 1 hit and scored a run for the Cards.

Kidder County was led by James Thompson (2-3), with 2 RBI, drilling a 2 run homer in the 4th inning accounting for both Pirate runs. Thompson added a double in the 6thinning. Ethan Hager had the other hit, a double in thee 4th before Thompsons home run. Kamen Schmidt took the loss on the mound allowing 5 earned runs in the first 1 1/3 innings.

Kidder County ends the season with a 11-13 overall record and Carrington improved to 14-6. The Cardinals will play Midkota-DP-L-GCC in a loser out game at 12:00 Wednesday and the winner will advance to the 2:30 championship game versus S-NR. The Blacksox only need 1 victory to win the Region 3 title, Carrington/Midkota winnerneeds to beat S-NR twice to win the title.
