CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City banker has been elected to the city commission in a special citywide election.

Ross Powell received 415 votes and Lloyd A. Nelson received 60 votes. Powell was the only person on the ballot. Nelson received all write-in votes during the special election. There were two other scattered write-in votes cast for two other Valley City residents.

Powell works for Wells Fargo as a personal banker in Valley City and is currently serving in his third term as a member of the Valley City Park Board.

Powell will fill out the remaining three year term of former Valley City Commissioner Rick Ross who resigned earlier this year.

City Finance Director Avis Richter said 477 ballots were cast in the special election held on May 23rd in Valley City.
