(NewsDakota.com) It will be the number one and two seeds during the regular season that will play for the Class B Region I Championship next week, after advancing from opening round play Friday at Townsend Field.

#3 Northern Cass #6 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 2

In the first of the four games Friday, LLM managed to score the first two runs in the first inning. Northern Cass answered with a lone run, tied the game at two in the fourth, and took the lead for good in the sixth with a one out RBI double by Ethan Slinger; scoring Logan Nelson. Nelson’s double was the only extra-base hit in the game.

Tanner Leahy earned the win for the Jaguars, going five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and striking out three. Slinger started the game, and was pulled after an inning and a third after allowing both runs, and walking six. Jacob Ulmer took the loss for the Loboes, going six innings with all three runs earned on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

The number two seeded Squirrels earned a spot in the title round after a convincing win over the Jags. 

Bryce Giremann lasted six innings to earn the win allowing just the lone run on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Tanner Leahy took the loss, going two innings, allowing two runs while striking out three.

#5 Oakes 3 #4 Enderlin/Maple Valley 2

In game three, the Tornadoes used solid pitch and base running to pull off the mild upset. The Falcons actually outhit the Tornadoes 10 to 3, but stranded the tying run at third and the winning run at first in the bottom of the seventh.

Mike McKenna earned the win, going five and a third innings, while striking out three. Nathan Amerman took the loss, lasting all seven frames, while striking out seven. Oakes had a triple from Adam Newstel, while Peter Lingren and Brandon Utke each had doubles for the Falcons.

#1 Kindred-Richland 10 #5 Oakes 0 (6 innings)

The Vikings scored a pair of runs in the first and fourth innings before they pored on another four in the fifth to pull away. 

Brandon Roesler earned the victory Kindred, going four innings of one-hit ball while striking out five. Taylor Schall took the loss, registering the lone hit for his team, while striking out two.

The Class B Region I Championship Series will be in Kindred on Monday 22 as the Vikings host Central Cass. Games one and two will be played Monday, with game three, if needed, on Tuesday. The winner of the best-of-three series advances to the State Class B Tournament at Jack Brown Stadium the following week.
