N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Fargo North limited The Hi-Liners to just a run and 6 hits in a pair of EDC games Tuesday in Fargo. The Spartans won 7-0 and 4-1. They pulled within a game of 1st in The EDC standings. Valley City is still eyeing their first victory this spring, they play their final home game Friday hosting West Fargo at Charlie Brown Field.
Game 1: Fargo North 7 VCHS 0
Reese Huschka had The Hi-Liners’ only hit against starter Matt Pietsch. He struck out 8 and did not issue a walk. Luther Zeltinger pitched 2.2 innings with a strike out as the starter for Valley City. Huschka closed out the game in relief.
Game 2: Fargo North 4 VCHS 1
Valley City opened scoring in the first when Nate Rodriguez drove in David Fletcher. The Spartans scored a run in the 3rd and 5th and had 2 runs in the 4th inning. Fletcher finished 2 for 4. Cole McGough and Seth Hanson had base hits. Sam Jenson pitched all 6 innings for The Hi-Liners, he struck out 3.
