(NewsDakota.com) KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com has been honored with three awards in the 2016 AP Great Plains Broadcast Contest.
KDDR was selected in the Division II Radio group twice in the sports category for a conversation with University of North Dakota President Mark Kennedy shortly after the announcement of the eventual budget cuts that came to the athletics program, and an interview with Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm head football coach Jon Schiele the week of their 2016 State Championship game. Those interviews earned second and third place honors, respectively.
NewsDakota.com received a third place honor in the website category.
Division II consists of radio stations in markets including Fargo, Bismarck, Sioux Falls and Omaha, Nebraska.
20 radio and television outlets submitted 231 entries in the contest which featured news, feature and sports stories from 2016.
KDDR and NewsDakota.com have now been recognized 12 times by the Associated Press for excellence since 2014.
