N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to several grass fires in the area Saturday, April 29th.

Fire Chief Ben Maulding reports that crews responded to two fires that burned about one acre a piece with no damage to property. The third fire was along the shoreline of the Pipestem Reservoir.

“It burned roughly 30 acres and the cause is unknown right now,” Maulding reported.

Pipestem Manager Bob Martin reports that the burned acreage came within 10 yards of an evergreen plot in the area, but it appeared that the grass was short enough that it continued west rather than burn the 30 year-old evergreen plot.

Maulding reports that the Fire Danger rating is high, so residents should be mindful if they are doing any burning.
