N.D. (NewsDakota.com)——The Carrington Cardinal baseball team scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to blow by the Mustangs of Midkota/DP 13-6 in Region 3 high school baseball. The Mustangs scored 4 unearned runs in the first inning thanks to a 3 run triple from Isaac Smith. The Cardinals answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the first. The Cards added 3 more runs in the third, 1 run in the fourth, before their big 5th inning. Jayden Rosenau led the Cards going 3-4 at the plate, scoring 3 times, and driving in 4 runs. Jayden Shipman and Drew Page added 2 hits each, Shipman scored twice and Page scored once and had an RBI. Shipman pickedup the win on the mound, pitching 6 innings allowing 6 runs, only 2 earned, and allowed just 4 hits. Cole Varnson scored twice and went 1-3 for the Mustangs. Jake Avdem took the loss on the mound. Avdem took over in the fourth inning after the Mustangs tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the 4th.
Carrington improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 3 play. Midkota/DP dropped to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in Region 3 play. Carrington will host MPB tomorrow at 3:30 with a pregame starting at 3:15 on KDAK 1600 AM and www.newsdakota.com
