Amelia Bertsch, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Orpha A. Wahl was born to John and Emilie (Rothfusz) Wahl on May 7, 1923, at Ashley, ND. Orpha graduated from Ashley High School in 1942. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Orpha taught in several North Dakota schools, retiring in 1986.
On November 25, 1943, Orpha was united in marriage to Herbert K. Bertsch. Herbert passed away on January 19, 2009.
Orpha was always actively involved in community organizations. She directed the Federated Church Choir and the Community Choir in Grafton, ND for many years.
Orpha is survived by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; parents; sister, Viola Roezler; and brothers, Theodore, Alvin, and Oliver.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
