N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After announcing an increase in the releases from the Jamestown Reservoir, the city of Jamestown has announced the closing of the Oxbow gates.

On Wednesday, Manager Bob Martin reported that releases would be increased from 450 cfs to 650 cfs this Friday. He pointed out that the city would possibly have to make adjustments at some of the gates in order to accommodate the increase.

A release from the City of Jamestown today reports that they will be closing the Oxbow West & East gates and activating the pumping station. Flows are expected to remain high until further notice.

Martin says that right now, the reservoir is eight feet into flood storage. Releases will stay high and will hope to decrease the levels by June.
