N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Hansen Arts Park in Jamestown received the Flint Firestarter Award for a Tourism Development Project during the annual North Dakota Travel Industry Conference in Bismarck.

The Governor’s Awards for Travel and Tourism recognize passion and dedication of North Dakotan’s who have contributed to the growth of travel and tourism, North Dakota’s third-largest industry.

During the awards ceremony on April 19th, The Hansen Arts Park was awarded the Flint Firestarter Award. The award recognizes new tourism offerings that have opened in a downtown district that has potential to attract visitors and enhance the main street experience. The park features a beautiful, handcrafted sculpture and will later have a stage built for live, outdoor events.

Another local individual received an award during the ceremony Wednesday. Bobby Koepplin of Valley City was given The Legend Award for Travel & Tourism Industry Leadership. The award is given to an individual who has demonstrated legendary leadership in the tourism industry statewide and beyond. Their long-term leadership in the areas of tourism development must be proven by a significant impact on a tourism business or local economic development effort.
