N.D. (Submitted) – The Jamestown Community Foundation recently awarded a grant of ,800 to the South Central Homeless Coalition (ND Region VI) for assistance in partnering with the Firstlink/211 hotline to serve the Stutsman County homeless population.
The agreement allows local law enforcement to connect with Firstlink/211 thorough dispatch to screen individuals and to provide hotel vouchers sponsored by our local Salvation Army if needed after their business hours M-Th and 24 hours Friday-Sunday. ND Region VI does not have an actual homeless shelter in any of its nine counties.
This pilot program for Stutsman County was funded by the local Coalition during its first six months, and this grant will allow the program to continue for another six months, during which period the coalition will encourage participation and financial support by the other eight counties for a region-wide permanent program.
