MN (VCSUVikings.com) – The Valley City State golf team completed its final tune-up meet before the conference championships, playing in the 36-hole Cobber Spring Invite on Friday and Saturday in Moorhead.

The Viking men placed sixth out of eight teams, while the VCSU women took fifth out of five teams. The tournament was played at both Village Green Golf Course and The Meadows Golf Course.

Nicole Heinitz had the top individual finish of the weekend for VCSU, placing seventh in the women’s final standings. Heinitz shot a 92 on Friday and then followed up with a 90 on Saturday. She finished 12 shots back of the leader.

On the men’s side, Jeremie Pasitney fired a 75 on Saturday – the top round of the tournament for a VCSU golfer. Pasitney finished with a tie for 11th after carding a 156 total over 36 holes. Jared Lentz tied for 13th with 157, and Kyle Wiebe tied for 17th after finishing with a 160 total.

VCSU’s men shot a 329 on day one and then finished with a 312 team total on day two.

Up next: Valley City State travels to Onalaska, Wis., for the NSAA Tournament on April 24-25. The final 36 holes of the tournament will be played at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek. The first 36 holes were played this fall. The top team and top individual after 72 holes will advance to the NAIA National Championships.
