VCHS Honors Dennis Friestad with Wrestling Room Dedication

CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- A man respected by many in the Valley City School District is former wrestling coach and teacher Dennis Friestad. He was honored during a school board meeting last night.

Acting on the recommendation of Activities Director Marty Bratrud and others the high school wrestling room will be named in honor of Friestad later this year.

Kim Knodle said Friestad was a teacher and a three sport coach more than 40 years in the school district. He said his work ethic and dedication to students was incredible.

Friestad and his wife Helen were honored during last night’s meeting. The school board unanimously approved of the recommendation. During Friestad’s time as head coach the program was without a wrestling room

There will be a dedication held over the summer for family, friends and former athletes. A formal dedication will be held December 14th against Davies.
