N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Fort Seward Wagon Train is preparing for their 48th annual voyage in June.

The wagon train was first started by Mary Young and a group of local citizens to preserve and promote the history of North Dakota in 1969. It was originally a onetime experience, but the organizers thought it was worthwhile, continuing the tradition for 47 consecutive years.

Adam Olson is President of the board and says this will be his 19th year participating in the journey. He says the participants all have a job to do while on the trail.

Olson also stated that the wagon train brings in visitors from all over the world.

“Last year, we had participants from the UK and this year we have a couple coming all the way from Sweden to join us,” Olson pointed out.

This year, the wagon train will travel upwards of 70 miles to Kulm, ND for their centennial celebration. The trail will feature stops and stories will be shared at historical sites both marked and unmarked along the way.
