N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Blue light is a type of produced light that studies suggest could cause long-term damage to your eyes.

Blue light is produced by TV’s, computers, cellphones, laptops and other electronic devices. Julie Fuchs, Optometrist Assistant at Looysen Eyecare in Jamestown, says a lot of jobs today require prolonged use of blue light emitting screens.

Fuchs says studies have shown that an hour or more use of blue light exposure has caused eye strain and more, but new research has found the damages could be much more.

Fuchs says optometrics have developed new ways to protect eyes from blue light exposure. Coatings and infusions have been developed for glasses to help protect eyes. Studies also say individuals should cut back on exposure before bed to help protect from the negative effects of blue light.
