N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Mustangs of Midkota graduated six Seniors from last years team, including standout pitcher Jayden Grover, but return a good nucleus of players this year to help fill the void.  Head Coach Rick Christianson, who started the baseball program for Midkota in 1991, says there are 20 high school kids on the roster this year and 23 junior high players.  Last year the Mustangs finished runner-up to Carrington in the Region 3 Championship game and ended at 16-8 overall.  

The Mustangs have added Lakota to this years coop as well, which already included Midkota/Kensal, Griggs County Central and Dakota Prairie.  Out of the 20 kids, eight players are from Dakota Prairie, five from Griggs County, four from Midkota and three from Lakota, all are lower classman, no Seniors.  Christianson says the team practices in Tolna:

Christianson is assisted by Brent Luehring, Mike Monson and Rick’s son, Bryan.  The Mustangs will open their 2017 season at Hope on Thursday, April 6th at 4pm, to take on Finley/Sharon/Hope/Page.  This Saturday, they will travel to Bismarck for two games at Dwyer Field at Shiloh Christian School.  At 12:15pm, they will play Harvey, then at 4:45pm they will meet Minot Bishop Ryan.
