N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It will be a win win situation for Valley City State University is how many describe the benefit of the new heating plant now under construction on the campus.

VCSU President Dr. Tisa Mason said the plant will serve two purposes, heating the university and creating activated carbon that will clean water.

The bill to allow this project to move forward was approved by both chambers of the North Dakota legislature during the 2017 session.

The bill is now on Governor Doug Burgum’s desk awaiting his signature before the project can move forward on the VCSU campus.

Once in operation, the new VCSU heating plant will produce activated carbon to treat water. Mason said funds raised from future sales will benefit the university.
