CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The copyright phrase March Madness wasn’t born yet back in March of 1960.

Stan Amundson and his teammates have some great memories of their 18-6 season that culminated in a State Class A Championship for the Valley City Hi Liner’s in 1960.

Amundson talked about that great day 57 years ago with Steve Urness during a live broadcast on March 9th during the 80th Annual North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City.

Stan Amundson was a senior and a starting forward for the 1960 Valley City Hi Liners. — Senior Stan Amundson was a Forward on the 1960 Valley City Hi Liners State Class A Basketball Championship team.

At the start of the 1959-1960 season the Hi Liners started out slow with two wins and four loses but after that they went on a ten game winning streak.

Earlier this year the team had a reunion to revisit those memories during a live broadcast with Joel Morgan at the Valley City Town & Country Club.
