N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – JCPenney has released their list of 138 store closures across the nation and Jamestown’s store is one of them.
The release comes following an announcement that the company would be closing up to 140 stores this year. Similar cuts were made by Macy’s and Sears. Other chains including Vanity and Gordmans have reported that closures come due to pressures of competing against online retailers.
In a statement released in February, JCPenney CEO Marvin Ellison stated that the closing stores will allow them to adjust their business to effectively compete against the growing threat of online retailers.
Other stores closing in North Dakota include JCPenny’s in Wahpeton and Dickinson. Liquidations will start April 17th.
