N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Montpelier Public School will hope to have a new addition by the start of the 2017 school year.

Recently, Montpelier’s School Board agreed to award Infinity Building Services of Jamestown for their building and renovation project. Jerry Waagen is the Superintendent of the district.

Waagen says the idea behind the renovations is due to the current location of the music room, which is across the parking lot of the school.

Waagen says the upgrade will also provide more space for the students, alleviating the shared use of a library as a multi-room space. This add-on will downsize the library a little bit, but allow for a counselor’s office in that area of the school. Waagen pointed out that the renovations will be the first to the school since 1960.

The cost of the project will be around $420,000 overall, including the building and contracting fees. Waagen is hopeful that the renovations wrap up when school begins in August.

Superintendent Waagen says the students and staff are very excited to have this new addition to the school moving forward.
