CITY, IA (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team had their run in the NAIA national tournament cut short again by No. 2 Concordia (NE). The Bulldogs and head coach Drew Olson ended the Jimmies season in the national quarterfinals back in 2015 and did the same Saturday with a 74-59 win. 

Concordia raced out a 16-point halftime lead, but the Jimmies didn’t waver. They cut it down to single digits on three different occasions and each time the Bulldogs had the answer. Three of their six makes from beyond the arc came after Jamestown had cut it single digits. 

With five minutes to go, Concordia came up empty on their possession after the Jimmies had cut it eight. Alexis Watts missed on a corner three that would have made it just a two possession game late and the Bulldogs immediately responded with a Mary Janovich triple. 

McKayla Orr finished with a game-high 21. She sparked the Jimmies early scoring the first five for her team. The former Blue Jay also knocked down five threes. 

Jamestown ends their season at 27-6 and matches the furthest run in the tournament by a Jimmie team. 

Concordia had three players in double-figures lead by Quinn Wragge’s 15. Jamestown held soon-to-be All-American Philly Lammers to nine. The Bulldogs reach their fifth Fab Four and will play St. Xavier (Ill.) at 8pm on Monday night in the second semifinal. The game is available on ESPN 3. 

The defending champion Marian (Ind.) Knights will play St. Francis (Ill.) in the first national semifinal at 6pm also on ESPN 3.
