N.D. (NewsDakota.com) –  To coincide with the “Women Behind the Plow” photo exhibit at the North Dakota Heritage Center beginning May 1, the Tri-County Tourism Alliance (TCTA) announces the availability of the book with the same name.

This is the third book published by the TCTA with stories and photos collected from Germans from Russia in three counties in North Dakota – Emmons County, Logan County and McIntosh County.

“Women Behind the Plow” honors the contributions of the women who worked in fields, raised families and lived on farms in a time before electricity. The stories are heartwarming and humorous. Combined with the photos, these women paint a picture of life before the Internet, cell phones and even electric lights. Imagine working on a farm without lights, good roads, big box stores and a dozen children.

This 12×12-inch hardbound book is filled with the full interviews and more than 400 photos collected to create the photo exhibit of the same name. For a short time, the book is being offered at a pre-publication cost of $55 plus shipping of $10 and local sales tax within the state.

After May 1, the book will be available at local retailers and www.dakotabooknet.com for $75 plus tax and shipping.  For more information or wholesale inquiries, call Sue Balcom, 701-527-5169 or email spidersue@msn.com.
