CITY, IA (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown is moving onto the Elite 8 for the second time in three years with an 80-67 win over #6 Davenport. The Panthers came in with a record of 31-3 and were playing their final season in the NAIA before moving onto the NCAA Division II.

The first half Davenport jumped out to a 25-15 lead when they made 5 of their first eight shots to open the game. After that, Jamestown’s defense found their footing and held the Panthers to just five more points in the half to lead 30-28.

Taylor Hammer had just seven points in the first half, but exploded in the third quarter with 19 points. She finished with 36 and helped the Jimmies outscore Davenport 52-37 in the final 20 minutes.

Jamestown will move onto the national quarterfinals and battle the winner of Concordia (NE) and Cardinal Stritch (WI). They have national tournament history with both. The Jimmies played the Stritch in 2014 and 2015 splitting the matchups and Concordia in the Elite 8 in 2015.

The game is the first of four on Saturday and scheduled to start at 1pm. You can listen on ESPN Jamestown and NewsDakota.com.
