N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public Schools met in a regular meeting Monday night in the Thompson Community Room.
During the meeting, several staff members were recognized by the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) Committee. Board member Brenda Roemmich described the SARB Committee to the board.
Kerrie Soulis, Tressi Mitchell, Ashley Michael, Lisa Anderson, Shane Ringdahl, Candy Wingenbach, and Mark Stillwell were all recognized for their efforts on the committee.
Stillwell spoke to the board on what the group has accomplished in the last three years.
Board member Diane Hanson pointed out that she was proud with what the group has done, mentioning past issues with SARB.
Later, Superintendent Robert Lech gave his report. He discussed numerous items that the State legislators would be working on that may have an effect on area schools. Lech also reported on the latest website developments.
Lech reports that the cost will be about $12,000 for year one and then drop to around $8,000 annually following that. Lech says that they are hoping to go live before the next school year and are open to receiving input from the public on what they’d like to see in the site.
The Board later approved several evaluations of Superintendent Lech’s performance in the previous year. His contract was also approved for the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year with no raise. Chairman Roger Haut stated that the current condition of the state prompted them to hold off on increasing Lech’s salary at the moment.
Lech gave his thanks to the board for allowing him to continue serving the community.
Following up to that, Business Manager Sally Ost pointed out that Lech had also been recognized as the Superintendent of the Year during a meeting in New Orleans.
