CITY, TENN (VCSUVikings.com)- Valley City State sophomore Seri Geisler placed 16th during the women’s shot put competition Saturday at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Geisler recorded a top throw of 13.06 meters (42 feet, 10 1/2 inches) during the event, which featured 29 throwers from across the country. She had entered the national meet seeded 18th. Geisler had throws of 12.77 meters, 13.06 meters and 12.58 meters during competition on Saturday.

Kyle Davis of Olivet Nazarene won the national title with a toss of 14.53 meters.

The strong showing for Geisler caps an indoor season that saw her set new school and conference records in shot put with her top throw of 13.39 meters (43 feet, 11 1/4 inches).

Geisler’s focus will now shift to outdoor competition where she is the defending national champion in women’s javelin. VCSU is set to open the outdoor season March 23 at the Yellow Jacket Spring Open in Spearfish, S.D.
