Lake, N.D. (NewsDakots.com)—–The defending state class B basketball champion Four Winds-Minnewaukan (FWM) Indians, rolled to the District 7 title with a 78-50 victory over the Harvey-Wells County (HWC) Hornets. New Rockford-Sheyenne (NRS) Rockets defeated the Warwick Warriors 71-40 and the Dakota Prairie (DP) Knights won 57-51 over the Benson County (BC) Wildcats to advance to the Region 4 tourney next week.

District 7 Championship     FWM  78     HWC  50

The Indians jumped out to a 25-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to the 28 point victory, 78-50. The Indians led 44-14 late in the first half before the Hornets closed the half on a 13-2 run, but still trailed the number one rated Indians 46-27 at halftime. Tronis McKay led the Indians with a game high 24 points and a team high 10 rebounds. Charlie Black added 12 points, Jaylen LaRock 11 points, Irvin Tomahawk 10 points and 4 steals, and Steve Redfox added 6 points, 5 rebounds, team high 4 assists, and a game high 7 steals.

HWC was paced by Payton Granger’s 13 points and 11 rebounds. Trevor Schimke added 9 points and a game high 6 assists for the Hornets. FWM improved to 20-1 overall and HWC dropped to 15-7.

Region 4 Qualifier     NRS  71     Warwick  40

The NRS Rockets scored 23 first quarter points and rolled to a 31 point victory, 71-40, over the Warwick Warriors. Jack Schaefer had a game high 22 points and a team high 12 rebounds to lead the Rockets. Teddy Allmaras added 11 points and a game high 7 assists. Seth Soderholm added 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Rockets improved to 15-7.

Warwick was led by Paul Thiele with 12 points and added 7 rebounds. Joel Redfox added 10 points and a game high 16 rebounds. The Warriors season ends with a 5-15 overall record.

Region 4 Qualifier     DP  57     BC  51

The DP Knights were paced by Hunter Sand’s game high 23 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Tyler Loe added 19 points, a team high 7 rebounds, and tied Sand with a game high 3 assists. The Knights improved to 10-12 overall.

The BC Wildcats were led by Keaton Nelsen’s 17 points and game high 12 rebounds. Spencer Olson added 11 points and 6 rebounds. The Wildcats finished the season with a 7-15 overall record.
