N.D. (AP) – A small community in northeastern North Dakota is coming together to support a couple who lost their three children in a weekend fire.

Carrington Police Chief Randy Munkeby Monday confirmed the identities of the three young victims: 7-year-old Spencer Tufte, his 8-year-old sister, Melody, and their 11-year-old brother, Alex.

The children died when fire engulfed their mobile home in Carrington’s Westside Trailer Court. Their parents, Dawn and Brandon Tufte and a third adult survived the fire.

Carrington Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Laurie Dietz says there are several ways individuals can assist the family during this troubling time.

Dietz says she’s very proud to see the community come together.

Chief Munkeby says his department has turned the fire investigation over to the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The state fire marshal is also investigating.
