CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The United Way of Barnes County held its annual submarine sandwich sales on Tuesday, February 21. Sandwich orders were taken from area businesses over the last two weeks and then on February 21 a team of sandwich builders gathered at Marketplace Foods to make the subs. This year 1,290 inches were sold raising just over ,500.
The United Way of Barnes County is a nonprofit fundraising and community service organization supporting 15 local programs focusing on youth, elderly and special interest.
This year the United Way of Barnes County has allocated out over $65,000 in funds to assist these 15 programs. The submarine sandwich sales is just one of the many activities the United Way of Barnes County hosts to raise dollars. All proceeds from the submarine sandwich sales benefit non-profit groups in the greater Barnes County area.
The submarine sandwich sales are a joint effort this year by Marketplace Foods, Leevers, Valley Meat, Sheyenne Care Center, VCSU/Sodexo, and the Valley City Barnes County Development Corporation. The United Way of Barnes County Board of Directors would like to thank them for their donations and continued support of this important fundraiser.
The Barnes County United Way board of directors would also like to thank the VCSU Men’s and Women’s coaching staff for helping with the sandwich building and the VCSU Football coaching staff for delivering the sandwiches.
