Jacobson, 75, Valley City, ND passed away peacefully at her home February 24, 2017.  She was surrounded by her loving family while under the care of CHI Health at Home.  A service of remembrance for LaVonne will be held at the Lerud-Schuldt-Mathias Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 2, 2017.  Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service.  She will be buried with her daughter at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, later in the spring.

LaVonne Christensen was born to John and Isabelle (Johnson) Christensen on February 7, 1942 on the family farm in Spiritwood, ND. She attended school in Spiritwood, and worked on the family farm. She later attended school in Jamestown.

Throughout her life, LaVonne worked at various locations as a waitress. She always loved to be around people and formed some lifelong friendships with her coworkers.

On July 22, 1991, LaVonne married the love of her life, Marvin Jacobson, in South Dakota. They made their home in Litchville and later moved to Valley City. LaVonne enjoyed spending time going to thrift stores, garage sales and any place a bargain could be found. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and decorating her home.

LaVonne is survived by her loving husband, Marvin; her children, LaNora (Jeff) Martin of Gwinner, Lana (Steve Robertsdahl) Bruns of Valley City, LaDonna (Ryan) Hammond of Valley City and Wade (Ronda) Schock of Sanborn; several stepchildren; a brother, Niels Christenson; 2 sisters, Janet (Rod) Brandt, and Shaw (Kim) Simonson; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

LaVonne was proceeded in death by her parents; a daughter, LaRinda Bruns; and a grandson, Michael Barnett, Jr.
