CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Consumer Protection division sued Glen Robert Collins of West Fargo doing business as Tri-City Building Services and Collins Handyman & Restoration, for violations of the consumer fraud and contractor licensing laws.
According to the Attorney General’s Office news release Collins, never had a contractor’s license, solicited advance payments from at least six homeowners but did not purchase the materials or issue refunds, instead using the money for his own personal expenses.
The Cass County District Court found Collins in violation of consumer fraud laws and entered a Judgment against him on February 17 for $6,900 in restitution, civil penalties and attorney fees.
Collins is banned from doing any contracting work, including home improvement and home repair jobs, for five years and thereafter cannot apply for a contractor’s license until he has paid the amounts ordered in the judgment.
Collins also has several other money judgments against him for similar previous acts, totaling more than $25,000.
