SD (PlayNorthStar.com)- Jamestown will be the top seed when the 2017 North Star Athletic Association Women’s Postseason Tournament begins on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The Jimmies finished the 2016-17 regular-season schedule with an overall record of 22-5 and won the NSAA conference title outright with a 15-1 record.
Number two seed belongs to Dickinson State with an overall record of 22-6 and 14-2 NSAA conference record. Valley City State is the No. 3 seed (22-7 overall record, 13-3 NSAA record).
Bellevue (16-14 overall record) and Mayville State 16-11 overall record) both ended up in a two-way tie for fourth-place with 9-7 North Star conference record. The Bruins won the coin flip in a tiebreaker over the Comets for the No. 4 seed.
The top four seeds all host the first round games.
Presentation (8-20 overall record) and Dakota State (8-21 overall record) both finished in a two-way tie for sixth-place with 5-11 NSAA conference record. The Saints earned a tiebreaker over the Lady T’s after winning the coin toss. No. 8 seed goes to Viterbo (Wis.) with an overall record of 3-27 and 2-14 record in the North Star conference record.
Waldorf is eliminated from the postseason conference play. The Warriors concluded their 2016-17 season with an overall record of 2-26 and 0-16 record in NSAA.
The quarterfinals round begin on Wednesday with UJ hosting VU, DiSU taking on DaSU, PC traveling to VCSU and MSU visiting BU.
The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, at the highest two remaining seeds with the game times being determined after the first round on Wednesday. The NSAA Championship game is set for Sunday at the highest remaining seed with the game time announced on a later date.
The NSAA Postseason Tournament Champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Tournament on March 8-14 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
