N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington Cardinals captured the Region 2 wrestling title outscoring runner-up Pembina County North (PCN) (Grizzly’s) 219-204. The Cards will send 12 individual wrestlers to next week’s state tournament at the Fargo Dome in Fargo. Carrington also won the Region II dual title a week earlier in Cavalier & will have an opportunity to defend both the dual and individual state titles from last year.

The Cards put 7 wrestlers into the finals on Saturday and came away with 3 champions. Senior Bradee Schroeder won the 285 weight class, Lucas Geiszler at 126, and Zach Broadwell at 138.  Schroeder and Geiszler will be the top seeds in there respective weight classes and Broadwell will take a number 2 overall seed into the state tourney.

Brekken Lura (106), Austin Hendrickson (132), Brady Davis (152), and Jarrett Bauer (182) all finished as runner-ups. Bauer, seeded 6th going into Saturday’s action, defeated the third and second seeds to advance to the championship match against top seeded Carter Brown from PCN.

Michael Clifton (120), Tyler Hoggarth (145), and Kaden Wolsky (170) all finished in third place. Trevor Hoggarth (113) and Colton Buskness (195) finished in fourth place, will also advance to the state tourney. The state tournament will start on Thursday (16th) and finish on Saturday (18th).
