(NewsDakota.com) The 2017 playing of the North Dakota Class B District 5 girls basketball tournament starts Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center.

Opening round play commences at 4:30 p.m. with #4 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion (13-6, 3-3) meeting #5 Ellendale (7-12, 2-4). At 6, #2 Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (14-5, 5-1) faces #7 Midkota (4-16, 0-6). #3 Barnes County North (10-9, 4-2) and #6 Oakes (9-10, 1-5) play around 7:30.

#1 Carrington (17-2, 6-0) has earned a first round bye.
