Langer, age 86, of Alice, ND, died Wednesday, February 8th at Mercy Hospital in Valley City.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Enderlin, ND.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service on Saturday morning at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Enderlin.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the church.  Interment will be in the Alice Community Cemetery, Alice, ND.

Elden Bernard Langer, the son of Frank and Minnie (Hager) Langer, was born March 3, 1930 in Fingal, ND.  Elden grew up and attended school in the Fingal, ND area.  In January, 1952 Elden enlisted in the US Army and completed basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas.  Elden was a radio communications operator and artillery personnel.  He served overseas in Okinawa, Japan.  Elden was discharged from active duty in 1954 and returned to farm with his dad and his brother.  He married Dorothy Gerner on June 25, 1954.  Elden farmed for 30 years and then started doing construction.  He later owned and operated El & D’s bar in Alice until his retirement.  Elden was an avid gardener known for growing huge cabbage.  He enjoyed playing cards, Polka dancing, driving around the countryside listening to Polka music, and his cat Tommy.  His greatest love was spending time with his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elden is survived by his wife Dorothy, Alice, ND; eight daughters, Melody (Steve) Puhr, Fingal, ND, Bonnie (Chuck) Loomer, Enderlin, ND, Julie (David) Kurtz, Enderlin, ND, Eileen (Mark) Zaun, New Town, ND, Donna (Randy) Liebenow, Fingal, ND, Diane (Brian) Hovland, Buffalo, ND, Sandy (Chris) Beilke, Embden, ND and Sara (Greg) Pfaff, Fingal, ND; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

Elden was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Lorraine, one sister Marilyn and an infant son.
