N.D. (AP) — Authorities in eastern North Dakota are searching for a man accused of shooting at a state trooper and stealing a car with a baby inside.

The suspect is identified as 23-year-old Daniel Michael TwoHearts. TwoHearts fired three shots from a 9 mm handgun. Three passengers were in the Chevrolet pickup; two were arrested. Methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle. Area residents were notified as the ground search was conducted.

Between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., TwoHearts stole an additional vehicle, a silver 2005 Ford Taurus bearing North Dakota plates 679AOF.

TwoHearts is at large and considered armed and dangerous. His hair is longer now than at the time of the photo.

Citizens are asked to call 911 if they see anything or anyone suspicious. Do not approach the suspect.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a trooper attempted to stop a pickup truck on Interstate 29 in Grand Forks for a loud exhaust about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. The driver took off and led officers on a 40-mile chase. The man got out of the vehicle near Hillsboro when officers put down tire spikes. That patrol says he fired shots at a trooper, who was not hit and did not return fire.

Authorities say the driver ran to Hillsboro and stole a car with a baby inside. Officers caught up with the driver about 20 miles away. He fled into a field. The baby was safe in the car.
