FALLS, S.D. (NewsDakota.com) Girl Scouts, Dakota Horizons has fully stocked “Cookie Cupboards” across the council’s area of North Dakota, South Dakota and a portion of Minnesota.
Girl Scouts selling cookies started 100 years ago. A group of industrious young troop members in Oklahoma decided to fund their projects by selling cookies they baked from scratch. That was the start of what is now the world’s largest girl lead business.
The cookies are produced by licensed bakers and more than 50 million U.S. households buy Girl Scout Cookies each year. Closer to home our girls will be selling 1.5 million boxes of cookies in North Dakota and South Dakota.
Along the way they will be learning 5 important leadership skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills and Business Ethics. Every dollar raised stays local and funds other experiences to support transforming girls into women of leadership.
