N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Both the girls and boys basketball teams were in action on Friday night, the boys were in action at home against Ellendale and the girls were in action in Gackle against Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter. Carrington boys win 69-48, the girls won 69-54. Here are the recaps:
BOYS: CARRINGTON 69 ELLENDALE 48
In the battle of the Cardinals, the Carrington boys basketball team improved to 4-0 in District 5 and 13-2 overall by beating the Ellendale Cardinals on Friday night. Ellendale drops to 5-1 and 11-4 overall. These two teams met earlier in the year in the Stutsman Tourney Championship, Carrington also won 61-59. Garrett Bickett led the way Friday night with 28 points, including five 3-pointers. Kolton Vetter added 16, including four 3-pointers. Senior Center Bryce Edland had 13. Leading the way for Ellendale was Senior Forward Luke Wertz with 16 points. Senior Brennan Vance had only four points, he was in foul trouble most of the game.
GIRLS: CARRINGTON 69 NAPOLEON/GS 54
Haley Hewitt and Maara Nelson had 19 points each to help the Lady Cardinals improve to 16-2 overall.
