N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Hockey fans were treated to a pair of games Saturday at Wilson Arena as the Blue Jay Boys and Girls teams both took to the ice.
The girls lost to Williston in overtime, but the boys picked up a shut out win over Hazen-Beulah.
Williston 2, Jamestown 1 OT
The Jays fell behind early but 8th grader Ella Roaldson scored her team leading 8th goal of the season to tie the game late in period one.
Neither team scored in the second or third, but in overtime, Jamestown picked up a tripping penalty and the Coyotes cashed in on a power play goal to end the game.
Blue Jay Sophomore Goalie Erin Anderson was again solid as she stopped 42 of the 44 shots she faced.
The Jays slip to 2-16-1 on the season.
Jamestown 7, Hazen-Beulah 0
The winless Northstars hung in there, thanks to their Sophomore Goalie Evan Eliason making 81 saves, but facing 88 shots was to much to handle as Hazen-Beulah fell to 0-14 on the season.
Junior Bryce Nelson netted a pair of goals, his 5th and 6th of the season, and Junior”s Devin Hofmann and Leo Halko each tallied his 8th goal of the season, Junior Connor Fuchs scored his 3rd and Senior Jaryn Stading buried his first goal of the season.
Jamestown split Goaltending time between Junior Matthew Schneider and Senior Donavan Ask and the tandem faced only 4 shots.
The Jays improve to 8-8 over-all and 7-5 in the West Region.
