(NewsDakota.com) The Ellendale High School basketball teams split their District 5 doubleheader Friday night against Barnes County North.

In the girls contest, BCN (8-8, 3-2 Class B District 5) outscored the Cardinals (5-12, 2-4) 15-4 in the second quarter to pull away to a 53-34 victory. Hannah Willson had 17 points, Tess Scott added 11 and Jayda Haugen contributed 10. Brooke Boehm had a team high nine points for Ellendale with  Kennedy Schimke putting in eight.

The boys of Ellendale outscored BCN 28-2 in the first quarter to roll to a 75-26 win. The Cardinals (9-3, 4-0) outpaced the Bison (3-10, 1-3) 20-8 in the second quarter. Lucas Hofer lead Ellendale with 13 points, Brennen Vance and Luke Wertz each had 12. Allen Contreras had nine points for the Bison with Franklin Huang contributing another nine.

Both Ellendale teams compete at Lisbon Saturday, the BCN girls are at LaMoure Monday and the BCN boys visit LaMoure Thursday.
