N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinals Sports teams were very busy over the weekend, the Grapplers were at New Salem for the 40th Annual East/West Classic and the girls and boys basketball teams hosted North Star.  Here are the results:

GIRLS VARSITY: No. 1 North Star 53  No. 4 Carrington 49

The Lady Cardinals suffer their first loss of the season as the Lady Bearcats beat the Cardinals by 4 points on Saturday afternoon.  Haley Hewitt had 17 for Carrington.   

BOYS VARSITY:  RV North Star 66  No. 5 Carrington 48

Senior Jayden Komrosky poured in 22 points and Senior Johnny Heisler added 17, including two 3-pointers to help the Bearcats win by 18 in front of a packed house at the Carrington High School gymnasium.  For Carrington, Junior Garrett Bickett had 17, including four 3-pointers and Junior Kolton Vetter added 11 points, including three 3-pointers.  Carrington drops to 12-2, NS improves to 11-2.

In the JV games, Carrington won both, the boys won 57-53, the girls won 50-41.

WRESTLING:  Carrington places fourth with 117 points.

For the first time in four years, another team wins the East/West Classis wrestling tournament in New Salem.  The Cardinals had won the last three of them, but the Lisbon Broncos put an end to that today, as they finished in first place.  Hettinger was second, followed by Minot Bishop Ryan in third.  The Cardinals had two champions, including Bradee Schroeder at 285 and Lucas Geiszler at 126.  At 138, Tyler Hoggarth finished in third place.  At 170, Kaden Wolsky finished in fourth place and at 132, Austin Hendrickson finished in fifth.

CARDINAIRES: 

At the State Dance Tournament, the Carrington Cardinaires Dance Team finished in first place in Kick, second place in Jazz and third place in pom.
